Bladnoch Samsara is a unique single malt Scotch whisky from one of Scotland's oldest Lowland distilleries, Bladnoch. Named after the Sanskrit word meaning "rebirth," Samsara was created to celebrate the revival of the distillery under new ownership in 2015. This non-age statement whisky is matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon and Californian red wine casks, resulting in a rich, fruity, and complex expression. Bladnoch Samsara is bottled at 46.7% ABV and non-chill filtered, preserving its natural character and delivering a full-bodied experience.
Tasting Notes
COLOR:
Warm amber with a coppery hue.
NOSE:
The nose is sweet and fruity, with prominent notes of red berries, ripe plums, and fresh apples. There are also underlying hints of vanilla, honey, and toffee, along with a subtle touch of spice and oak.
TASTE:
On the palate, it is smooth and rich, with flavors of dried fruits, dark chocolate, and caramel, balanced by the freshness of citrus and orchard fruits. The influence of the red wine casks imparts a soft tannic quality, adding depth and complexity. There is a pleasant spiciness with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg.
FINISH:
The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of sweet fruit, vanilla, and a light touch of oak and spice. It leaves a lasting impression of both sweetness and a slight dryness from the wine cask influence.
