The Longrow 2001 11-Year-Old Rundlets & Kilderkins is a distinctive single malt Scotch whisky from the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. Distilled in November 2001 and bottled in January 2013, this expression is part of a limited release of 9,000 bottles. It was matured in small casks known as rundlets (approximately 60 liters) and kilderkins (approximately 80 liters), which enhance the whisky's interaction with the oak, imparting unique characteristics. Bottled at a cask strength of 51.7% ABV, it offers a robust and full-bodied experience.
Tasting Notes
NOSE:
A complex interplay of smoked pine needles, dry red wine sourness, dry hemp rope, and a touch of tar. With water, sweeter fruit notes emerge, softening the initial dryness.
TASTE:
Initially sweet, featuring tropical and orchard fruits, followed by smoky peat, rich earthy tones, wood smoke, and sugar syrup. Adding water introduces rich vanilla, balancing the sweetness.
FINISH:
Light lingering smoke and tar, complemented by black treacle and peppery spice.
