The Glenesk 12 Year Old, bottled by Wm Sanderson in the 1980s for the Italian market (Buton Import), is a rare and historic Highland single malt whisky. Glenesk, a now-closed distillery (formerly known as Hillside), ceased single malt production in the 1980s, making this expression highly sought-after among collectors. Bottled at 43% ABV, this whisky represents a classic example of old-school Highland character, with a balance of malt-driven flavors, light smoke, and delicate fruitiness.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Aromas of honeyed malt, dried grass, and subtle citrus zest, with a touch of vanilla, toasted almonds, and light heather smoke. A faint presence of old oak and beeswax hints at its age.

TASTE:
Smooth and well-balanced, offering malty sweetness, soft caramel, and gentle spice. Notes of apples, pears, and candied orange peel blend with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and light oak char, giving it a subtle complexity.

FINISH:
Medium-length with lingering honey, dried fruits, and a soft, herbal smokiness, fading into a clean and slightly oaky aftertaste.
