The GlenDronach 15 Year Old (Old Style), often referred to as the "Revival," is a legendary single malt Scotch whisky from the Highlands, matured exclusively in a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, and naturally colored, this expression embodies the rich, sherried character that GlenDronach is celebrated for. The "Old Style" version, produced before its temporary discontinuation in 2015, is highly sought after by collectors and whisky enthusiasts for its deep, complex flavors and bold sherry influence.
Tasting Notes
NOSE:
A rich and decadent aroma of dark fruits, dried figs, raisins, and dates, complemented by hints of chocolate, espresso, and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. A subtle oak presence adds depth.
TASTE:
Full-bodied and luxurious, with an explosion of sherried sweetness. Notes of dark chocolate, Christmas cake, toffee, and treacle combine with spicy undertones of black pepper and clove. The sherry influence is dominant, bringing flavors of plums, red berries, and a touch of orange zest.
FINISH:
Long and warming, with lingering dried fruits, oak spice, and a touch of espresso bitterness, ending with a velvety, nutty sweetness.
