Description

The Ponnelle family entered the wine business in Burgundy in 1870. Pierre-Lazare Ponnelle founded his winery and vineyards at that time. He brilliantly developed the business while conducting a number of research projects on winemaking processes, especially understanding fermentation. This led to collaboration with Louis Pasteur, who lived in Déle, not far from Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy. His sons followed him. A grandson, Albert, decided to start his own business and he switched, made and sold some of the finest quality wines in the Cote de Beaune and the Cote de Nuits.His son Louis continued.
