Tasting Notes
NOSE:
The nose opens with a beautifully layered aroma of honey, vanilla, and malt, signature notes of The Balvenie. Beneath the sweetness, there are rich aromas of dried fruits, such as figs and sultanas, intertwined with hints of warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. The influence of sherry casks adds a subtle raisin and red berry note, with a faint hint of wood smoke and toasted oak.
TASTE:
On the palate, the whisky is full-bodied and complex. The honeyed sweetness of The Balvenie malt is complemented by rich toffee, caramel, and dark chocolate flavors. There is a lovely fruitiness from the sherry cask influence, with notes of dried apricots, orange marmalade, and candied ginger. The oak gives the whisky a dry, slightly spicy edge, with nuances of cinnamon, cloves, and a touch of wood smoke.
FINISH:
The finish is long and warming, with lingering flavors of honeyed malt, dried fruit, and dark chocolate. Subtle oak spices continue to develop, leaving a rich, satisfying aftertaste with a faint trace of smoke.
