Description

The Springbank 10 Year Old Pedro Ximénez (PX) Cask Matured is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky from the Campbeltown region, released in 2022 as the inaugural expression in Springbank's Sherry Cask Series. This limited edition of 10,800 bottles was distilled in July 2012 and bottled in October 2022 at a robust 55% ABV. The whisky's maturation process involves an initial seven years in bourbon casks, followed by a three-year period in fresh PX sherry hogsheads, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: Dominated by sherry influences, with prominent notes of date syrup and raisins, complemented by subtle hints of cola, sticky raisins, dates, caramel, and Christmas pudding.
TASTE: A tannic and spicy character emerges, featuring flavors of cola cubes, cherry menthol, cinnamon, caramel, sweetened espresso, Muscovado sugar, vanilla pods, and dark chocolate. The whisky maintains its signature oiliness and a subtle damp, dunnage warehouse note, indicative of its Campbeltown heritage.
FINISH: The finish is characterized by lingering tannic elements, with PX sherry qualities manifesting as notes of sultanas and rich spices.
