Owned & operated by Johnston family, Pirramimma is a renowned, over 125-year-old wine producer. Its winery & vineyards are located in the McLaren Vale region. A highly-rated brand, it uses sustainable and biological farming techniques for viticulture. It has won various international awards and exports to countries worldwide.

Ironstone is a powerful and weighty Pirramimma GSM blend of 60% grenache, 35% shiraz, and 5% mourvèdre from McLaren Vale. The mighty bottle is adorned with a golden medal shield, adding more weight to an already massive everything. Mulberry, blackberry jam, cassis, perfumed violets, peppercorns and baking spices fill the plump, ripe red. Tannins are nubby soft, and acidity is low, welcoming most folks, as well as a juicy grilled steak.

Tasting Notes

For this stunning Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre we selected fruit from our older mature blocks, which supplied outstanding colour, varietal character and intensity. Displaying a lifted bouquet of spicy mulberry, black plum, nutmeg and briary blackberry, with the palate delivery concentrated raspberry puree, mariposa blood plum, cranberry and pomegranate. An exceptional example of Australian GSM, approachable now or cellar up to 15 years under the right conditions.
