Penderyn Ex-Madeira Single Cask 2020 is a limited edition single malt Welsh whisky from the renowned Penderyn Distillery. This expression is part of Penderyn's acclaimed series of single cask releases, known for their unique character and exceptional quality. The whisky is distilled in Penderyn's distinctive Faraday still, which produces an exceptionally pure spirit. It is then matured in a single ex-Madeira wine cask, imparting rich and complex flavors. Bottled at cask strength, this whisky is non-chill filtered and retains its natural color, offering an authentic and unadulterated tasting experience.
Tasting Notes
NOSE:
Rich and aromatic, with initial notes of dried fruits, particularly raisins and sultanas, mingled with honey and a hint of toffee. Subtle undertones of oak and a touch of spice add depth.
TASTE:
Full-bodied and complex. The palate opens with a burst of sweet dried fruits, followed by layers of caramel, vanilla, and a slight nuttiness. The Madeira cask influence brings a delightful winey richness, with hints of dark chocolate and cinnamon.
FINISH:
Long and warming, with lingering notes of sweet wine, gentle spice, and a touch of oak. The finish is smooth and satisfying, leaving a pleasant aftertaste of dried fruit and subtle spice.
