Description

Maison Marchand-Tawse is a joint venture formed in 2010 by native Quebecois, Pascal Marchand, who worked in Domaine Comte Armand, and Moray Tawse of the Tawse Winery in Ontario. These two Canadians created this collaboration initially with focus directed on negociant releases, but as dreams and ambitions do, it became much more. Marchand-Tawse is based in Beaune, and produces a range of wines from regional Bourgogne to Grand Cru, from Pinot Noir to Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes

The Marchand-Tawse Bourgogne Cote D’Or is made with Pinot Noir grapes aged in old French oak for 11 months, then for three more months in vats. It has an intense ruby color, with an ABV of 13%. It gives aromas of black cherry, and red and black berries, with hints of mineral and earth. It’s as expressive on the palate as it is on the nose, with much the same notes, and an intense, deep finish.

Food Pairing

The Marchand-tawse Bourgogne Cote D’Or is great to pair with cheese and cured meats to start. For entrée, it’s great with beef dishes, like beef bourguignon or a hanger steak. Try it also with heavy pastas, or a roast duck.
