Dunnet Head is another tasty travel retail bottling from the Old Pulteney range, once again named after Scottish lighthouse - this one was built in 1831 by Robert Stevenson (Grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson, the famous author). The whisky itself is made using spirit drawn from both American and European oak casks, with a focus on the flavour profile's balance.
It's bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered and presented at its beautiful natural colour of old brass.

TASTE: Balance is indeed the name of the game here - mellow caramel and sweet sherry notes in equal measures, with a waft of sea breeze keeping it from becoming cloying. FINISH: Vanilla rich and very long. |
