Old Monk - The Legend Rum Very Old Vatted | Indian Rum

NOSE:
On the nose, those familiar with the Indian brand will recognise the famous roasted, sweet and concentrated nuts. The rum is quite dark, the caramel is extravagant, as is the wood which is more than toasted. Molasses and liquorice spread over a toast already covered in maple syrup and walnut slivers. Aeration will see the vanilla calm this oh-so-black side, but this will only last for a while as soon the caramel will cook again and thicken considerably, until it reminds one of beef stock concentrate.

TASTE:
On the palate, caramel and molasses settle on the palate and release a concentrated toasty woodiness. As on the nose, the profile is very dark and sweet, with intense notes of caramel and nuts.

FINISH:
The finish is long, with a wetter woodiness, like a cardboard box that has contained coffee. Roasted nuts come out of the woodiness and sum up the tasting experience.
