Marc Colin - Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru | French White Wine

Bâtard-Montrachet is perhaps the most powerful and civilized wine in the entire galaxy of Burgundy wines. Indeed, located below the real Montrachet, it rests on a very gently sloping ground, on its upper part. The land, shallow, is made up of red clay on the surface and small stones, while the parent rock is outcropping. This clay gives this wine all its power. Straddling the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet in the South and Puligny-Montrachet in the North, it is a perfect synthesis of these two villages, one representing finesse, the other power and breadth.

The Marc Colin estate produces an exceptional Bâtard-Montrachet, powerful on the palate, powerful on the nose, in its floral intensity, its fruity, herbaceous and mineral complexity. A powerful wine, with disproportionately broad shoulders, but set to mature over several decades in bottle. It will deserve pairings with noble dishes such as fine poultry or a white truffle risotto.
