Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon - Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine | French White Wine

Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine is an ecological, barrel-fermented white wine made by Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon in AOC Mâcon (Burgundy) with the Chardonnay variety.

Despite the fact that Mâconnais was known for being a large volume production region, Dominique Lafon wanted to give the area a better reputation by making high quality wines. So in 1999, he acquired some vineyards in the area and founded Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon. He currently owns 26 hectares in this area of southern Burgundy and his wines have gained an international reputation.

The grapes used to make Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine come from a single 1.4 hectare vineyard lying at about 250 metres above sea level. The strains are aged over 30 years old and planted in poor, clayey soils with limestone rocks. Organically certified agriculture is practiced, alongside the use of biodynamic treatments to maintain the natural balance of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually.

In the winery, once the best grapes have been selected, Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine is vinified. This involves spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in 500 to 700 litre barrels. It then ages on its fine lees for 9-10 months and is finally stabilised before bottling.

Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine is a wine that combines lightness with intensity. A Chardonnay made in Mâcon that everyone likes.
