The Lagavulin 1980 Distillers Edition is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky from the renowned Islay distillery. Distilled in 1980 and bottled in 1999, this expression underwent double maturation, initially aging in traditional oak casks before a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks. This PX cask finish imparts a rich sweetness that complements Lagavulin's characteristic smoky profile. Bottled at 43% ABV, it offers a harmonious balance of peat smoke and sherry sweetness.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Rich and fruity aromas with prominent peat smoke in the background. Notes of rum-soaked raisins, citrus zest, vanilla, seaweed, and a hint of pulled pork.

TASTE:
Thick and chewy texture featuring flavors of tropical fruits, peat, salted chocolate, seaweed, and citrus zest.
