The nose showed both the ripe fruit and the minerality of the vintage, with ripe apple and melon aromas, some white flowers, and notes of chalk and a touch of new oak vanilla. The palate was still really primary, with a burst of bright lemony acidity running through ripe notes of apples and white peach, again flecked with bits of chalk and slatey mineral. Such lovely purity here. There was certainly plenty of fruit too, but such was the acid and mineral spine on the wine that the primary impression I got was of a rapier-like cut and definition that carried it all the way into a wonderfully direct, delineated finish. Still a baby, but this was very impressive. A wine of energy and tension - with its plump fruit and wonderful freshness and minerally structure, this will last for just about forever.
