The Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish is a refined and richly complex Highland single malt, part of Glenmorangie’s pioneering Wood Finish Series from the late 1990s and early 2000s. After its initial maturation in American oak bourbon casks, the whisky undergoes an extended finishing period in ex-Port wine casks, imparting deeper fruitiness, warmth, and a luxurious mouthfeel. This finishing process enhances the whisky’s natural elegance, adding rich berry notes and subtle spice, making it a highly regarded and collectible expression.
Tasting Notes
NOSE:
A luscious mix of ripe red berries, plums, and dark cherries, intertwined with hints of caramel, vanilla, and oak spice. Subtle floral and nutty undertones add complexity.
TASTE:
Silky and well-balanced, offering flavors of raspberry compote, dark chocolate, honeyed malt, and spiced orange. The influence of the Port casks provides a velvety texture with hints of toasted nuts and soft tannins.
FINISH:
Long and warming, with lingering notes of red fruit preserves, oak spice, and a delicate touch of cocoa and cinnamon.
