The Glengoyne 1998 Single Sherry Cask 19 Year Old #1921 is an exceptional single cask Highland whisky, distilled in 1998 and matured for 19 years in a carefully selected first-fill sherry cask. As with all Glengoyne whiskies, this expression is unpeated, allowing the rich sherry influence and natural cask character to shine. Bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration or added coloring, this limited-edition whisky is an outstanding example of Glengoyne’s meticulous craftsmanship and sherry cask maturation expertise.
Tasting Notes
NOSE:
Intense and rich, with deep aromas of dark dried fruits (raisins, figs, and dates), caramelized brown sugar, and dark chocolate. Notes of spiced orange peel, toasted almonds, and polished oak emerge, complemented by hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweet tobacco.
TASTE:
Full-bodied and luxurious, delivering waves of sherried richness, treacle, dark cherries, and roasted nuts. The long aging introduces leather, espresso, and rich cocoa, balanced by a touch of honeyed malt and citrus zest. The cask strength enhances the depth, adding a warming spice and velvety mouthfeel.
FINISH:
Exceptionally long and elegant, with lingering notes of oak spice, dark chocolate, dried fruits, and a gentle nuttiness, slowly fading into a warm, sherried afterglow.
