A delicious Dalwhinnie, matured for 30 years and bottled as part of Diageo's Special Releases 2019! Matured in a combination of refill hogsheads and butts, this one has developed a vibrant, complex flavour profile which we're rather fond of. The theme for the Special Releases 2019 is 'Rare by Nature', hence why there's a cheerful-looking rabbit on the label. A release of 7,586 bottles.

Matured in a combination of refill hogsheads and butts for three decades, this Dalwhinnie single malt is an elegant addition to Diageo's 2019 Special Releases. Aromas of raisins, leather, lemon and cinnamon-baked apples mingle with mint, grape jelly, honeysuckle, spring meadows and hay. The palate offers notes of summer flowers, vanilla toffee, delicate oak spice and slices of apple and pear, followed by zesty lemon, candied flowers, grystalised ginger and buttery shortbread biscuits.

TASTING NOTES	NOSE: Fairly spicy, with root ginger, clover honey, a slight mineral hint and subtle smoky, ashy notes, a touch of Lotus biscuits and a buttery caramel undertone. With water, it’s much more creamy, with sweet malt, condensed milk, vanilla cheesecake and prominent floral honey this time, and a very subtle grassy note. TASTE: A huge hit of spice straight off, with peppery oak, a continued flinty mineral note, set honey and just a hint of tinned pear. With water, it’s all cream soda, fresh hay and just a hint of sea salt, with the spice more tempered this time, and dried apple. FINISH: A mineral finish, with white pepper, dried apricot, waxy vanilla and a gentle lingering smoke…
