Château Lanessan - Haut-Médoc | French Red Wine

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
32 hectares (79 acres) of 30-year-old vines growing in deep Garonne gravel beds.

It is sorted with optical screening equipment.

Fermented in coated concrete tanks equipped with temperature control. The winemaking techniques, pumping over, rack and return are used according to the needs of the vintage and the fruit. Multilayered, elegant nose. Lovely structure on the palate with fleshy tannins and a long finish.

The history of Château Lanessan is linked to the Bouteiller family, which has owned it since the 18th century. Eight generations have therefore managed Château Lanessan.

The terroir of Château Lanessan covers 45 hectares of vineyards among which 32 ha are aged between 20 and 30 years, on deep Garonne gravel. The vines are 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. To start with, the mechanical harvesting of the grapes is done at optimum maturity. Then the selection is done through a vibrating table and an optical sorting machine. Last, the fermentation is in coated concrete tanks, with temperature control. Eventually the aging is 12 months in French oak barrels with 1/3 new barrels, 1/3 barrels a year and 1/3 barrels two years. The property also has an oeno-tourism offer with the opening of a cottage in 2017 “in pleasant colors, a simple style, with a spirit of nature and chic countryside.”
