Description

On the "terroir" of Meursault, some of the vineyards classed as a village apellation are situated on marly ground, identical to the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (only the topography and altitude are different). These vineyards of a quality equivalent to that of a Premier Cru deserve to be vinified separately. This is the case for vines from the terroir of Les Clous whose name apparently not too flattering comes in fact from a deformation of the word "Clos". The Bouchard Père et Fils estate owns 8.64 hectares here, i.e. almost half of the total area.

Tasting Notes

Meursault Les Clous confirms its strong showing from barrel, exhibiting aromas of crisp Anjou pear, dried white flowers, beeswax and blanched almonds. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with excellent tension and depth at the core and an elegantly chalky finish. While it's a little shut down after its recent bottling, its quality is not in doubt.
